There will be people that hurt you,
Even though you have given them everything and then some.
There will be people that love you without question,
Even though you have done everything to push them away.
There will be those
That come into your life temporarily,
And seem like they’ll stay forever,
And those that feel temporary,
And wind up staying forever.
You can never predict,
Who will come into your life,
Or when they will leave,
But you can predict,
How you will treat them.
There will be the ones,
That inevitably hurt you.
You can choose,
To hurt them in kind,
Or to rise above it all,
And be the better person,
No matter how lonely you might be,
As a result.
You can be a friend,
To those who might not like you,
But you don’t have to love,
Everyone who likes you.
You can help people,
Who can’t help themselves,
But only if you remember,
That it’s okay,
To put yourself first,
Every once in a while,
But you also,
Don’t have to help everyone.
It’s not your job,
To save the world.
It is your job,
To live a happy life,
And to be the best you that you can be,
Even if that means,
Cutting people out of your life,
Who once meant the world to you,
Because you no longer,
Mean the world to them.
Appreciate those that matter.
Get rid of those who don’t.
And don’t let anyone,
Try to tell you how to live.
It is ultimately your life,
So live it.
